Snacks
When you cannot eat gluten, it is important to travel with a supply of gluten-free snacks to ensure that you always have something to fall back on when you cannot find a safe meal. Fortunately, there are a lot of gluten-free snacks available.
Non-perishable snacks:
If you need something to keep in your car or purse that won't melt or go bad, nuts are the perfect snack. They are tasty, portable and packed with protein.
Dried fruit is also very portable and keeps well. If you want the best of both of these snacks, there are a lot of different varieties of trail mix available.
Some other portable snacks ideas might be:
fruit cups or applesauce
Peanut Butter and rice cakes
V-8 Tomato Juice
GF crackers
GF protein or granola bars such as Lara Bars, Think Thin bars (Trader Joes) or EnviroKidz Organic Crispy Rice Bars
Snack-sized bags of baked potato chips, popcorn, tortilla chips, quakes (not caramel) or some of the commercial brand snacks such as Frito's corn chips, Cheeto's, or some of the GF varieties of Doritoes.
If you have a cooler or refrigerator:
Cheese sticks
GF yogurt
Salsa
Fresh fruits and veggies
